🌿 WEEK 4: The Middle Dantian – Emotional and Breath Energy
Welcome to Week 4 of our Qigong journey with Wild Minds Nature Connection CIC. This week, we turn our attention to the Middle Dantian, located in the centre of the chest, around the heart area.
The Middle Dantian is the centre of emotional energy and breath. It’s where we process feelings, connect with others, and experience the rhythm of life through our lungs and heart. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, this centre is associated with the Fire element, which represents warmth, transformation, and connection.
When the Middle Dantian is balanced, we feel:
- Emotionally open and resilient
- Able to breathe deeply and calmly
- Connected to ourselves and others
When it’s blocked, we may feel:
- Anxious or overwhelmed
- Grief or sadness
- Tightness in the chest or shallow breathing
At Wild Minds, we approach emotional energy with gentleness. There’s no need to fix or analyse—just notice, breathe, and move. Nature offers a safe space to feel and release.
This week, try:
- Heart-centred breathing: inhale into the chest, exhale with a soft smile.
- Healing Sounds Qigong: use sound to release tension from the heart and lungs.
- Gentle chest-opening movements in nature.
🌳 Nature Connection Tip:
Sit quietly with your back against a tree. Breathe into your chest. Imagine the tree supporting your heart, helping you release what you no longer need.
🌀 Reflection Prompt:
What emotions are present in your chest today? Can you breathe into them without judgement?
