🌿 WEEK 2: The Lower Dantian – Foundation of Vitality
Welcome to Week 2 of our Qigong journey with Wild Minds Nature Connection CIC. This week, we explore the Lower Dantian, the energetic centre located just below the navel and a few inches inward.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine and Qigong, the Lower Dantian is considered the foundation of physical vitality. It stores Jing, or essence—our deepest energy reserve. Think of it as your internal battery. When it’s charged, you feel grounded, strong, and calm.
The Lower Dantian is also your centre of gravity. It’s where movement begins and balance is maintained. Cultivating energy here helps you feel more stable, both physically and emotionally.
At Wild Minds, we invite you to explore this centre not through rigid technique, but through gentle awareness. Whether you’re standing in a woodland clearing or sitting quietly by a stream, you can connect with your Lower Dantian simply by breathing into your belly and feeling your feet on the Earth.
This week, try:
- Abdominal breathing: inhale into your belly, exhale slowly.
- Standing like a tree: feel your feet rooted, your body relaxed.
- Visualising a warm light in your lower belly, growing with each breath.
There’s no right or wrong way to do this. Just notice what you feel. Let nature support you.
🌳 Nature Connection Tip:
Stand barefoot on grass or soil. Close your eyes. Breathe deeply into your belly. Imagine drawing energy up from the Earth into your Lower Dantian.
🌀 Reflection Prompt:
What helps you feel grounded? Where in your body do you feel most stable?
