🌿 WEEK 1: What is Qi?
Welcome to Week 1 of our 12-week Qigong journey with Wild Minds Nature Connection CIC. This week, we begin with the most essential concept in Qigong and Traditional Chinese Medicine: Qi.
Qi (pronounced “chee”) is the vital life force that flows through all living things. It’s the energy that animates your body, fuels your breath, and connects you to the natural world. You can’t see it, but you can feel it—like a gentle warmth, a tingling sensation, or a sense of flow when you’re deeply relaxed or fully present.
In Qigong, we learn to:
- Cultivate Qi through breath and movement.
- Balance Qi to support emotional and physical wellbeing.
- Move Qi through the body’s energy pathways (meridians).
At Wild Minds, we believe in relaxed, mindful movement in nature. There’s no pressure to “get it right.” You don’t need to be flexible, spiritual, or experienced. Just bring your curiosity and a willingness to explore.
This week, we invite you to:
- Notice your breath as you walk outdoors.
- Feel the ground beneath your feet and the air on your skin.
- Pause and breathe with a tree, a stream, or a patch of sky.
Qi is always there. You just need to slow down and listen.
🌀 Reflection Prompt:
Where do you feel energy in your body today? What happens when you breathe into that space?
🌳 Nature Connection Tip:
Try standing still in a quiet outdoor spot. Close your eyes. Inhale deeply. Exhale slowly. Imagine drawing in energy from the Earth and sky. This is Qigong in its simplest form.
