The Inner Circuit – Exploring the Microcosmic Orbit
Welcome to Week 7 of our Qigong journey with Wild Minds Nature Connection CIC. This week, we explore the Microcosmic Orbit, a foundational practice in Taoist energy cultivation.
The Microcosmic Orbit is a circular flow of Qi through two major meridians:
- The Governing Vessel (Du Mai), which runs up the spine.
- The Conception Vessel (Ren Mai), which runs down the front of the body.
Together, these form a loop that connects the Lower, Middle, and Upper Dantians, allowing energy to circulate smoothly through the body’s core.
This practice helps:
- Harmonise Yin and Yang energies.
- Nourish the organs and energy centres.
- Support emotional and spiritual integration.
- Enhance vitality and inner balance.
At Wild Minds, we approach this practice with softness and curiosity. You don’t need to “feel” the orbit perfectly. Just breathe, move, and imagine. Nature supports this flow: the rising sun, the falling rain, the cycle of seasons.
This week, try:
- Visualising Qi rising up your spine and flowing down the front of your body.
- Gentle spinal movements to awaken the Governing Vessel.
- Outdoor meditation with your back against a tree, feeling the vertical flow of energy.
🌳 Nature Connection Tip:
Sit with your back against a tree. Imagine Qi rising up your spine and flowing down the front of your body, like sap moving through the tree. Let the tree support your energy flow.
🌀 Reflection Prompt:
Where does energy feel stuck or stagnant? Can you guide it with breath and intention?
